To investigate how the welding situations of hidden seam and the loading hierarchy reversal of braces affect the structural performance of unstiffened overlapped circular hollow steel (CHS) KT-joints,three specimens were tested under monotonic loading. The test results show that: the mechanical behavior and failure mechanism of the overlapped KT-joints are different from that of simple gap KT-joints; the unwelded situation of hidden seam will decrease the ultimate capacity of KT-joints; the overlapped KT-joint with inclined compressive brace as through web member has lower load-carrying capacity compared with joint using vertical brace as through web member.
