As a new type of structural members,limit strength of lipped H-section members subjected to both compression and bending is studied.Failure modes of stubs subjected to local buckling interaction between plates are investigated theoretically,and the corresponding formula for predicting limit strength of stubs is obtained based on numbers of examples that are designed to evaluate the influence of section parameters of stubs.Further,with the numerical results and proposed formula of stubs,limit strength of lipped H-section members under both compression and bending is studied,considering slenderness ratio of members,and the proposed formula for predicting limit strength in plane and out of plane of members is given,respectively.
