There is a very strict corresponding relation between infrared spectra and the structure of a matter,which may be used to study the change in chemical composition of asphalt during its use.It was analyzed that the ageing mechanism of asphalt and the inhibitation of epoxy resin on asphalt ageing through comparison of the spectra from host asphalt,aged asphalt and aged epoxy resin-modified asphalt.
