EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF BRIDGE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS STRENGTHENED WITH HIGH??PERFORMANCE FERROCEMENT

  • The bending response of bridge structural members strengthened with high??performance ferrocement considering fatigue load were experimentally investigated. The test included eight bridge structural members strengthened with ferrocement and two control members without strengthening. And performances of the members are compared and assessed with particular emphasis on cracking behavior, mid??span deflection, and the modes of failure and so on. The results showed that ferrocement could obviously increase the crack??resisting capacity, and improve the bending stiffness of members. A few point of view on construction techniques for the method are given here also. And according to the conclusion of experiments, debonding failure will not occur if the strengthening operations obey just simple rules. Through analyses and derivation, it has been obtained a regressive formula of checking fatigue strength of normal sections for strengthened beams under fatigue loading.
