The approximate displacement solution has been provided for non-homogeneous soil mass,whose elastic modulus increases linearly with depth,which is subjected to a circular of vertical uniform load. The accuracy of this solution has been verified through comparison with that of Gibson soil,homogeneous soil and finite element approach. In addition,the effects of Poisson's ratio and degree of non-homogeneity on vertical displacement are discussed.
