With the continuous method, the displacement shape functions are constructed with the self-contained trigonometric function series, and then the formulae of normal stress and shear stress in the shear walls of the core tube subjected to a torque are brought forward. Therefore, the formulae of the strain energy in each part of the core tube are obtained.Consequently, the warp displacement values of the key points could be found by the principle of minimum potential energy. Then the torsion displacement, the stresses and the strains of the designated points, and the shear forces in the beams of the core tube will be derived. At last, the validity and high effectiveness of the continuous method are proved by an example, where the results obtained by the method are compared with those obtained by the FEM software ANSYS9.0.Wherefore,the continuous method can be used in the practical engineering
