Based on FEM analysis,the deformation of bedding rock slope with single free face or double free face is studied.More attention is paid to the influcence of angle between strike of slope and strata on slope stability and the index regarding the strike angle used to distinguish between bedding rock slope and non-bedding rock slope is developed.Furthermore,the FEM results related to the case of single free face are verified by the model test.All the results show that referring to bedding rock slope with single free face and with double free face,when the angle between strike of slope and strata is more than 30 and 50 respectively,the slope may not be regarded as bedding rock slope any more.
