STUDY ON PHYSICOMECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF SWAMP SOIL

  • Two typical swamp soils in Sanjiang Plain,Northeast China are studied through physical,mechanical and microstructure tests.Another wetland soil in Cuihu,Beijing is used to compare with the swamp soil.Test results show that moisture content,liquidity index,void ratio,void volume,void number and consolidation deformation of the black swamp soil are far more than that of the white swamp soil and the wetland soil.The shear strength of the black swamp soil is the least among three soils that are all less than 0.5 kPa of the c values.The properties of the white swamp soil are near to that of the wetland soil.But the indexes of the black swamp soil are very special.Study results in this paper enrich present research findings of soft soil,which can provide references for engineering construction in swamp regions.
