Based on two sets of specimens, the compressive behaviors of N-type block masonry were investigated.Through these tests, the failure mode and the failure mechanism were studied.Test results show that the average compressive strength of N-type block masonry is increased by 30%~52% as compared to the common concrete masonry. The main reason for the strength rising is the full-alignment of web-shells in N-type block masonry prisms.Recommended formulas for calculating average compressive strength and modulus of elasticity is presented and the calculated results by the formulas are in good agreement with the test results.
