  • Spherical and ellipsoidal surfaces and also the non-uniform rational B-spline(NURBS) are adopted to simulate 3D sliding bodies of slopes;the mixed particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is used to locate the critical sliding body and its corresponding factor of safety given by simplified three-dimensional Janbu method.The effects of different simulating procedures on the results are studied for one typical soil slope.In addition,it is analyzed time consumption of the number of changing points in NURBS and its effect on the results.
