DESIGN FOR EXTERNAL JOINT OF FRAMEWORK WITH A SIMPLIFIED SOFTENED TRUSS MODEL

  • A simplified softened truss model orig inates from concept of stru-t tie lever and satisfies equilibrium, compatibility, and the constitutive laws of cracked reinforced concrete. It is expounded transitive path and design procedure of the simplified softened truss model. A simplified softened truss model for design and analyses the shear strength of external joint of frmework is proposed, the parameters reviewed include the concrete strength, the amount of vertical hoop and the amount of horizontal hoop. It is therefore recommended that the current shear design procedures for external joint of framework be reformed and utilized to incorporate the actual shear-resisting mechanisms as postulated by the simplified softend truss model, and the calculated values are in good agreement with the check values.
