A new style of composite column(the column of concrete filled prefabricated tubular members) and cas-t in-place concrete column are studied in this paper, whose main parameters are stirrup ratio and concrete strength of the prefabricated tubular members. According to the analysis of the stress state of the prefabricated tubular members with the biax ial strength criterion of concrete under axial pressure, a formula is presented for general calculation of the cracking load. And according to the experimental data, the formula of ultimate axial compressive strength of the column of concrete filled prefabricated tubular members is obtained.
