BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE-FILLED DOUBLE SKIN STEEL TUBULAR COLUMNS SUBJECTED TO LONG-TERM SUSTAINED LOADS

  • Based on the creep and shrinkage models of the concrete under sustained loads proposed in ACI 209 (1992), calculations of the deformation and load- bearing capacity of concrete- filled double skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns are presented in this paper.Influences of several parameters, such as loading age, sustained time, nominal steel ratio, sustained load level, steel strength, inner steel thickness, concrete strength, hollow ratio, slenderness ratio and load eccentricity on the deformation of the columns are analyzed.Formulas to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity of the CFDST columns with long- term sustained loading effects are presented.
