EXPERIMENT ON BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE SHORT COLUMNS CONFINED BY POLYETHYLENE FIBER SHEET UNDER AXIAL COMPRESSION

  • Based on the experiment on concrete circular columns confined with polyethylene fiber reinforced polymer(PEFRP) sheets and hybrid fiber sheets of PEFRP sheet and carbon FRP (CFRP) sheet, aramid FRP (AFRP) sheet underaxial compression, it is emphasized on analyzing failure configuration, bearing capacity, stress?strain curve and ductility.Results show that PEFRP sheet can significantly improve the ductility of concrete columns; the bearing load of concretecolumn confined with hybrid sheets of PEFRP sheet and CFRP sheet is 91% larger than that of concrete column confinedonly with PEFRP sheets, and its ductility coefficient is 37% larger than that of concrete column confined only with CFRPsheets, which indicates that synergistic effect between PEFRP sheet and CFRP sheet is good.
