LIMIT ANALYSIS OF EXPANSIVE CONCRETE-FILLED STEEL TUBE SHORT COLUMNS UNDER AXIAL COMPRESSION

  • The ultimate bearing capacity of axially compressed expansive concrete-filled steel tube(CFT) short columns with circular section is analyzed using the limit analysis theory.The formula for the ultimate strength of expansive CFT short columns is proposed.Meanwhile,the expansive model of expansive CFT and the initial contact pressure between the tube and the core concrete caused by the expansion of concrete core are investigated.The factors influencing the ultimate bearing capacity of expansive CFT short columns are discussed.The calculated results obtained by the proposed formula are in good agreement with the experimental ones.
