EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON BENDING BEHAVIOR OF TIMBER BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH CFRP SHEETS

Abstract
According to the static tests of 8 rectangular timber beams strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) sheets,the bending behaviors are studied such as failure characteristics,ultimate bearing capacity,rigidity,strain of timber section and CFRP sheets at the ends.The results show that CFRP sheets have a good strengthening effect for timber beam.This paper supplies a new method and test reference for repairing and strengthening of Chinese ancient timber buildings.
