  • It is determined that coefficient of static earth pressure is influenced by the increase of over consolidation ratio(OCR).When over consolidation ratio exceeds 2.5,the relationship of coefficient of static earth pressure and over consolidation ratio is determined to be nonlinear, and expressed with an exponential function. Therefore,in order to avoid an uneconomical design of a retaining structure, over consolidation ratio should be considered to calculate earth pressure at a retaining structure by using the elastic and plasticity method.
