  • Using the finite element method, the integral stability of the homemade rolled H-section beams is calculated and the applicability of the theoretical method in / Code for Design of Steel Structures0 (GB 50017-2003) is analyzed. It is indicated that the method offered by the code is conservative excessively for HW-section beams because the effect of major ax is curvature on beam stability is ignored. The formula of calculating stabilization coefficient of HW-section beams should be revised and a test should be carried out to testify the conclusion.
