A new type of rigid connection of steel girder and reinforced concrete pier is proposed, by increasing an articulated beam under the main beam to make the rigid connection partly move down to the top of concrete pier.Based on the static cyclic-loading tests of three kinds of experimental models, useful experimental data is obtained on the new type of connection of steel superstructure and concrete substructure.As a result, the stress transfer mechanism of this construction can be made clearly.It can be found that this type of connection has good energy absorption capacity in spite of large displacement.Extending the height of articulated beam and increasing the amount of shear bolt improve the seismic performance of the structure obviously.
