ROTATIONAL RESTRAINTS OF TAPERED BEAMS TO COLUMNS IN NON-SWAY BUCKLING FRAMES

  • Based on numerical analysis,an explicit rotation-deflection relation of tapered members is presented. The rotational restraints of beams to columns are derived when the portal frame buckles in a non-sway mode. The beams may be composed of multiple segments of tapered members. These restraints are intended for an easier determination of the column effective length both in manual calculation and computer software.
