The seismic responses of steel tower that is built atop of Jiangsu Electricity-Net Dispatcher Center are obtained with respect to each vibration mode using the direct dynamic analysis method based on the mode-superposition.The contributions of each vibration mode to seismic response of steel tower are studied and the influences of high-order modes on the seismic response are investigated. The calculation results reveal that due to the whiplash effect of steel tower, the considered number of vibration modes need to be appropriate to calculate the response of steel tower using the mode-superposition response spectrum method.
