Abstract
Sandwich panels consisting of two thin metal faces and a foamed plastic core represent the optimum use of dissimilar materials as composite elements. There are several factors which make the structural design of sandwich panels different from conventional building components. The structural performance and modes of failure analysis of sandwich panels are summarized for practical design.
