  • Based on load transfer approach and Ramberg-Osgood models for simulating the side resistance and tip resistance of a pile, the parameter studies on axial stiffness of single piles in a homogenous ground are conducted. A constant and dimensionaless rigidity index of pile-soil system,=(Gavg/Ep)(l/d) , is introduced and its dominant influence on the load transfer of a pile foundation is revealed.
