It is analyzed that the gap between China and oth er maturely-applying countries in the field of design and construction of mason ry buildings and the reasons of the gap.In addition,it is proposed that masonry-unit buildings of multi-storeys should also be computed in light of reinforci n g-bar masonry units in the process of structural design.As a result,under the p remise of structural safety,the building cost is reduced and the construction qu ality is improved through suitable shapes of masonry units and construction meth ods.
