STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF MEMBRANE STRUCTURES

  • Due to the unique mechanics characters, the analysis and design process of membrane structure is quite different from traditional structures. In this paper, some key problems of membrane structure analysis were discussed. The first question is how to determine the load case, especially for wind effects. Then, the structural analysis methods and some questions should be note were presented. It also introduced some design software of membrane structures. Moreover, it is recommended in this paper that the specified maximum displacement and stress of membrane structure, which can be used to assess the structural performance and select cable and membrane members.
