Structural mechanics method (SMM)is usually used to analyze rigid pipeline and the interaction between soil and pipeline is ignored.Transfer matrix approach (TMA)is presented to study interaction between soil and buried box pipeline in this paper. The results of comparing TMA to SMM show that the soil constraint influence should be considered. The effects of the changes of model parameters on pipeline-soil interaction are also discussed.
