When precast piles are installed into the ground, the same volume of soil should be displaced. Then, the excess pore pressure will be developed around the piles. That will result in the influence on the surrounding soil and nearby structures. Based on the field monitoring for the construction of piling in deep soft soil foundation, the influences of pile driving in clay are examined, with emphasis on the excess pore pressure and the lateral displacement etc. It is shown that the adoption of holes to relax stress is an effective measure against soil-squeezing during pile-driving. The conclusion provides a reference for the design and construction of similar projects.
