  • Comparing the constructional characteristic of thin-walled steel pipe reinforced by sticking steel plate outside and that of sandwich shell, thin-walled steel pipe reinforced by sticking steel plate outside can be converted to monolayer shell with equivalent stiffness and equivalent thickness based on experimentation.Thus theory of thin shell can be directly used to analyse mechanical behavior of combination structure.The theoretical evaluation results have good agreements with those of the test which may be a reference for engineering applications.
