The article points out the conservatism in Technical Specification for Steel Structure of One-story Light-weight Buildings with Portal Frames(CECS 102∶2002), when it is used to design the tapered girder without using the post-buckling strength of web plates. Accurate calculation methods and some suggestions are also given in this paper.
