Wu Tao, Xing Guohua, Liu Boquan
2009, 39(10): 30-34. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910010
Abstract:
Six specimens of abnormal interior joints were tested under reversed cyclic loading.Experimental studies were carried out to investigate the effect of joint core dimensions and axial compression ratio on seismic behaviour of abnormal joints.Test results indicated that column section abrupt had little effect on seismic behavior of the specimen. When the reduced height of column section was less than 1/6 column section height, that is h_ch_c/6,the negative effect of that could be neglected. The test results also indicated that beam section abrupt had an obvious effect on seismic behavior of the beam-column subassemblage. When h_b was between h_c/6 and 2h_(bl)/5,the seismic behavior improved gradually with the increase of h_b;When h_b was between 2h_(bl)/5 and h_(bl)/2,the seismic behavior deteriorated with the increase of h_b;When h_b was greater than 1/2 high beam section depth,a exterior joint model would be better for this case analysis. In addition, the axial load level of the column had a negative effect on seismic behavior of abnormal joints after the beam-column subassemblage reached to critical crack stage,it was suggested that the axial compression ratio shoulds be less than 0.3 for the seismic design of this sort of abnormal joint.

Jiang Lixue, Zheng Qiaowen
2009, 39(10): 40-47. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910012
Abstract:
Through cyclic loading tests,it is researched the seismic behavior of one simple frame specimen, four brick infilled frame specimens and seven frame specimens infilled with brick walls strengthened with steel-meshed cement mortar or carbon fiber sheet. All of these specimens are one-storey one-span reinforced concrete frames.Failure process, failure modes, load carrying capacity, ultimate deformation, hysteretic curves, skeleton curves,ductility,energy-dissipation capacity and strain of carbon fiber sheet are compared among these specimens.Test results show that shear failure always happens for infilled frames and strengthened infilled frames, and this is very different with flexural failure at column bottoms and beam ends for simple frames;the load carrying capacity of infilled frames is much higher than simple frames, and it can be increased by strengthening the infilled walls with steel-meshed cement mortar or X-shaped carbon fiber sheet, but the strengthening with horizontal carbon fiber sheet has no distinct effect on the load carrying capacity of the infilled frames. The ultimate deformation of infilled frames is much less than simple frames, and the ultimate interstory deformation of infilled frames can reach 1/50,but the ultimate interstory deformation of strengthened infilled frame can only reach 1/80.

2009, 39(10): 48-51. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910013
Abstract:
Multi-ribbed composite wall is the main load-bearing member in the multi-ribbed slab structure(MRSS).The study on the optimization design method of the wall is an important part of the design theory for the structural system. It is discussed the multi-objective optimization design method of the multiribbed composite wall. The multi-objective optimization design mathematical model which takes both the security(shear resistance of the wall) and economy(cost of the wall) into consideration is established. Then the genetic algorithm(GA) is employed to solve the proposed model. At the same time,a case of optimization design is given.Theoretical analysis and calculated results show that applying the multi-objective optimization design method to the optimization design of the multi-ribbed composite wall can make every objective satisfactory and give consideration to both the security and economy of the wall, and this method was found to be reasonable, practicable and have some meaning to the practical engineering.

2009, 39(10): 52-56. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910014
Abstract:
It is analyzed the bearing load characteristic of squeezed branch and plate pile group foundation under lateral load by 3D elastic-plasticity finite element model. It is obtained the bending moment of piles, relative displacement between pile and soil, and the change curve of reaction of soil in different position, different load and different depth. The results show that the plate affects the bending moment of pile, which generates saltation in the position of plate, and is reduced greatly under the branch and plate;relative displacement of back pile is bigger than the front pile;pile foundation bears the lateral load by the working of the front soil. The great reaction of soil takes place in the head of the first plate, and which affects the soil under the place by off-loading.

2009, 39(10): 57-61. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910015
Abstract:
Based on the viscoelasticity theory, the general partially differential vibration equation is deduced for the viscoelastic beam on the viscoelastic foundation at first. Then, the method to analyze the free vibration of the foundation beam is put forward under circumstances neglected to the viscosity of the beam, but considering the viscosity of the foundation. This method adapts to the general linear foundation which is composed of N-standard linearity by means of series connection or/and parallel connection, and can be used more widely to analyze complicated structures, such as underground railway tunnel, whose compelled vibration induced by moving train. After this, the results are deduced in detail of an elastic beam on a 3-parameter standard linear foundation subjected to arbitrary boundary conditions and to arbitrary initial conditions. In the end,a numerical analyatic example is given to illustrate the validity of this method. The example shows that with the technique which separating one variable into two,the sequence converges so rapidly that,in ordinary cases, only two series should be taken to meet the requirements of a project.

2009, 39(10): 62-66. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910016
Abstract:
In order to determine the capacity of composite foundation, the computational model for composite foundation reinforced by stone columns is founded according to load transfer characteristics and failure pattern. The expression of pile-soil stress ratio considering lateral bulging deformation is obtained according to spatial axisymmetric elastic theory and basic assumptions, which includes deformation compatibility and the equilibrium of radial stress on the interface between stone column and soil. The calculation method of the critical edge load and the critical load of composite foundations reinforced by stone columns is provided by the application of Mohr-Coulomb's failure criterion to soil between stone columns. The critical load is approximate to the results of the classical methods for ultimate capacity of composite foundation.

2009, 39(10): 90-95. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910022
Abstract:
The Heshi Stupa of Famen Temple consists of two towers leaning 36 of verticality in one direction. The two towers have the architectural characteristics of bending shape in space and a Xuyuan Bridge joining two leaning towers at the top.During the construction process of this complex structure different construction procedures will lead to different internal force and deformation distribution. There is a great difference in internal force and deformation distribution between the designed model and the step-by-step construction process, which should be considered in the structural design and construction. It is necessary to analyze the construction procedures in order to make reasonable construction measures and guarantee the safety of structure during the construction and let the internal force and deformation of the completed structure meet the requirements by designers. It is adopted nonlinear finite element method and considered all kinds of factors during the construction to analyze the construction procedures according to the real construction process in order to find the actual internal force and deformation and determine reasonable construction measures.Lots of results have been obtained as guidelines in theory for the design and construction.

Wang Bin, Dong Yuli, Suo Liang, Yang Zhinian
2009, 39(10): 96-101. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910023
Abstract:
In the present study, the fire test design of two large full-scale two-way reinforced concrete slabs being fixed at four edges and their installation under extremely narrow space were investigated.Firstly, the choosing of materials, concrete cover thickness, specimen dimensions and the calculating of internal forces and reinforced details at every working conditions were discussed;the internal forces of four-point supported slab with cantilever edges were also analyzed by ANSYS.Secondly, the process of installing the large full-scale specimen under extremely narrow space and insufficient capacity of bridge crane were illustrated in detail. Finally, the methods of simulating the slab supported at four fixed edges were introduced. The results showed that all working conditions should be taken into account while in the specimen design. The analyses by ANSYS indicated that the internal forces of the slab supported at four points were mainly focused on the four points and the lines passed them. The site and the capacity of the hoisting equipments should be considered in the design of large specimens. When there is no sufficient horizontal space in ground, the specimen can be lifted up firstly,so there is sufficient horizontal space on the lifted-up plane for installation.

Ding Yukun, Zhang Yaochun
2009, 39(10): 114-119. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910026
Abstract:
A seismic response analysis is carried out in order to compare the aseismic performance of three buckling-restrained braced frames(BRBFs).The effects of the two factors, including overstrength of the postyield buckling-restrained brace (BRB) due to the strain-hardening effect and the vertical support for the braced beam by this brace,on the aseismic performance of the beam braced by the chevron unbonded steel plate brace encased in reinforced concrete panel(socalled chevron BRB) are discussed. The analysis reveals that the beams in the three structures remain elasticity under frequent earthquake. The maximum vertical deflection of the beam connected by the chevron braces occurs in the segments of beam between the column and braced points before the brace yielding.Under severe earthquake, the maximum vertical deflection of the braced beams occurs at braced points. The beams designed by taking account of support action of braces but omitting the overstrength of braces develop large plastic deformation, resulting in the slightly larger deflection of the connected beams and the larger vertical gravity forces supported by the chevron BRBs,which make axial plastic deformation of the brace in compression be larger than that of the brace in tension.Whereas, little plastic deformation occurs in the beams designed by taking account of the overstrength but omitting the support action of the braces.
INVESTIGATION INTO THE STABILITY OF LARGE SCALE THIN-WALLED STEEL CYLINDRICAL SHELLS UNDER SEVERE DISASTER OF ICE AND SNOW
Wang Dengfeng, Cao Pingzhou
2009, 39(10): 120-125. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910027
Abstract:
The south China suffered a disaster of severe ice and snow in 2008,which caused many steel structures to fail. The large-scale thin-walled steel cylindrical shells widely used in the chemical or electric power engineering as the key facilities in the system are always located some beams internally to support the equipments.Consequently, the shell wall is subjected to local axial compression from the beam and the circumferentially uniformly distributed overall axial compression resulting from the self-weight of the upper part and the roof. The structure has accumulated some stress and deformation under the combined loads. Once it suffers the severe disaster of ice and snow additionally, there will be great load of snow quickly accumulating on the roof with large area and the connecting pipes, which causes the failure.Based on the process of construction and service and in consideration of loading path, the overall uniformly distributed axial compression is firstly applied then the local axial compression, thirdly the uniform axial compression is applied which simulates the great load of ice and snow. The nonlinear stability analyses of 112 cylinders with the initial weld imperfection are conducted. The investigation indicates that the buckling bearing capacity of the cylinder decreases as the initial overall load magnitude increases;the ratio of cylinder buckling bearing capacity under snow against the buckling design bearing capacity under overall uniform compression increases as the amplitude of the imperfection increases, and the post-buckling bearing capacity increases. The bearing capacity against snow increases slightly when the cylindrical shell stores slurry in the lower part.Based on numerous computation results, the design recommendation of the cylindrical shells subjected to the significant load of snow is proposed in consideration of loading history.

Long Yueling, Cai Jian
2009, 39(10): 126-130,71. doi: 10.13204/j.gyjz200910028
Abstract:
The experiments of seven rectangular CFT stub columns with binding bars and two without binding bars eccentrically loaded in compression were carried out with the main parameters such as eccentricity ratio and binding bar horizontal spacing.Experimental results indicate that binding bars increase the ductility of rectangular columns under eccentric load and delay the local buckling of steel tubes. The ultimate capacity decreases with load eccentricity ratios increasing. When load eccentricity ratios are the same, the ductility increases with binding bar horizontal spacing decreasing.
