Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Catalytic Effect Induced by Renovated Industrial Remains: A Case Study on Yangpu District in Shanghai

工业遗存改造的目标包括其自身的转型以及催化本地的可持续更新。本研究建立了基于时空特征的触媒效应评价框架,并以上海市杨浦区为例,分析工业遗存改造项目及其周边地区的时空演变过程,发现了圈层式、聚合式、链式、点式4类触媒效应;通过总结工业遗存改造激发触媒效应的3点必要条件:本地化产业、充足的空间载体、连续的更新区,和3点补充条件:政策连贯性、工业遗产的意义、高品质公共空间,指出了激发触媒效应的内在动因是工业遗存改造和创新创意产业发展的时空协同,以期为老工业城镇的转型提供借鉴。
Abstract:The renovation of industrial remains should not only realize its own transformation, but also catalyze a local sustainable regeneration. This study established an evaluation framework for catalytic effect based on spatiotemporal characteristics. Taking Yangpu District in Shanghai as an example, the spatiotemporal evolution of the renovated industrial remains and their surrounding areas were analyzed, and four types of catalytic effects were found:circle, aggregated, chain, and point. By summarizing three necessary premises of localized industries, sufficient spatial carriers, and continuous regeneration areas, as well as three supplementary premises of policy coherence, significance of industrial heritage, and high-quality public spaces for inducing the catalytic effect of the renovated industrial remains, the paper out that its internal mechanism lied on the spatiotemporal synergy between renovation of industrial remains and the development of innovative and creative industries, so as to provide a reference for renovation of old industrial towns in China.
