Abstract: In order to create a better environment for the 2010 Guangzhou asian games.The city of Guangzhou launched a comprehensive treatment on the city's environment, including the transformation of the in-city villages and a series of urban renewal projects.During the implementation process, conflicts often existed, such as the unbalance between the public welfare and commercial value, the demolition problem, slow progress on construction, insufficient funding for future construction, the physical limitation of achieving the planned objects, etc.Taking the conservation scheme of Huangpu historic and ancient village for example, it is proposed reform of old city reconstruction based on people's livelihood-oriented, which may be helpful to the promotion of similar projects.
